woohoo!
last day at imh....
we bought cakes and tibits for the patients...
and one of my friens even broke down while trying to terminate the nurse patient r/s...haha
we slacked the whole day...staying in the tearoom only...xD taking photos and play big 2...
fortunally we r not required to do any case study...ty so much man CI!
and of course we made a card for our CI...for his efforts and stuff...and he cried..(we cn see tears from his eyes! he was moved by us! =D)
the final moments of the ward was really really nice...we gave out the remaining sweets to the patients...which they asked for them with their mouths wide open...=) i took some and give to patients whom i spend time with most...and while giving, a uncle shaked hands with me and kissed my hands...LOL...there is this feeling...unexplainable...(i not gay hor!) the feeling of someone showing their gratitude...somehow i was touched...cos i didn't expect that....haha...xD
and before we left...almost all of the patients waved and said goodbye...the feeling was really good...the feeling which reflects that you are needed...your existence really make their day...haha...and we got their blessings...even after all those days of seeing people eating shit and drinking urine...haha...
last of all...thank you uncles..! thanks for all the fun...i really enjoyed it alot...! the time where i cn b crazy....haha...XD
i m waiting for something to come...she is denying it...and i n gonna watch what is gonna happen...>=(

IMH
IMH posting...
WOW!!!
first day,..:
whole day orientation...not much fun...other then the part when we entered the ward...a patient chased my ca mates around(girls u see)...and u see them all running round and round with the pt chasing them...XD
haha...the patients looked friendly btw...=)
second and third day was normal...still getting used to it...the oni incident was that we tio caught for playing card game at the patient playing...lol...my staff nurse even call us to go to the tearoom and play...haha...anw...slack for 2 and a half hours straight...=P
fourth and fifth day:
this is where everything sparks...!=D
morning shift peeps told us that they say something...which is beyond our thinking...they witnessed a patient eatting shit...(well...normally people would just say it as a casual remark...bt the fact that it is the truth!!)=O...i did believe it at first...until i found out one of the shit eaters today...-.- i helped to bathe him somemore and it was like..." HEAVENLY" when he open his mouth? -.-" fortunately i did not eat any breadfast...=X
next was a patient drinking urine? eh? okay..first of all...there is food and water there...so don b mistaken that imh is ill treating their patients...bt seriously...urine drinking is not common in singapore...and people don drink from urinals...=) i haven found out who was the urine drinker yet...bt soon i will...;)
next was a patient who keep repeating the same sentence or phrase over and over again...and he would come to you and say it every 30 mins? haha...there once he said about inserting and needle for injection i think.(he speak in a certain dialect) i m really afraid that one day i might just poke him...-.- tolerance tolerance...! btw...he was also the one who eat shit....zzz...plus he had a nasty habit...he had a protruding anus so his rectum would pop out every now and then..(haven seen it yet) its best if he does nothing about it...bt something is usually done...-.- he would use his hand and push it back...usually till the extent that there is blood... okay...there is real deal...he was a regular mahjong player...and sometimes...with his blood stained hands he continues playing the mahjong and the other uncle is like no feeling? (they continue playing) plus..i had been playing mahjong since monday? and i didn't know about it... plus i normally play before i go for my lunch...D= god knows wad i had eaten...-.-
we had a patient picking up food from the floor and eat...another one slpping like a log all day long, one that kneels on the floor and looks like he is praying bt in fact is kissing the floor...(he is enjoying it i tell you!) , one who had a bag full of barang barang that belonged to the ward...patients who enjoys laughing at them selves...basically...u name it...i think i have them all...-.-
i oni pity them for the fact that there are no visitors who came for them at all...and the part where one of the uncles actully looked out from the grilled window was really...sad. =/ is like no freedom here...plus our ward had this gloomy look...no wonder it was so depressing...-.-
nearly got punched by a patient...managed to dodge it...phew...!=D

ah well...it been so long since i last blogged..
haha...well..i had attachment in CDC...=S
travelling there took up much of my time and energy u see..=X
how should i say about that place...hmmm..
boring? and perhaps abit of fear?
haha...its natural for us to feel that i think...i mean...don ppl go there when they had infectious diseases...? and wad are the chances of cross contamination? u never know...
well...the patients there are unsually quiet i should say...probably cos they are in single beds...
and of course, there are exceptional cases...such as a HIV positive patient was pretty delighted to talk to us (student nurses)...i think which is the onlt one patient who is willing to share...though not how he got it...but his words of encouragement...=) (thanks alot!)
apart from that...there are other patients whom i found them quite interesting...lets say some of them are pretty much alike to us now...as in the way they talk...haha...for every 2 to 3 sentences there is "na bei! cb and stuffs!" i mean...its funny in a way that u don see people older then you saying these words in public...haha..=)
i recalled on of the days when i was trying to transfer a female patient to take her weight at the weighing chair. well, i guess it took 4 people to transfer her to the chair (including my CI)..haha...the best part was that she was MRSA positive and we were only wearing glpoves and apron...and of cos, during the process of transfering, we stained our clothes with her blood...we can't really blame her i think...she had v bad skin erosions that she herself fear about...bt guess what? the weighing chair malfunctioned after we transfered her onto the chair...-.- haha...waste of effort...fortunatelly we were talking in english (a language our patient does not understand) *60 plus le mah! how to know english!!* bt we said...erm...we haven take ur weight, bt we will take later!..poor lady, she was compliaining for the bleeding on her legs...bt what cn we do? its a doctor order...-.- (brainless, i think...even my CI and also angry) hah...after which my CI decided to change patient shirt (she was complaining of it being stained)...we helped too...bt of cos it was covered la...=) (i don even wanna see eh -.-) ...after changing, we noticed that the heel protectors were stain, we planned to washed it bt our CI corrected us by saying it must be thrown away as it was stained with MRSA blood...-.- okay ur the CI u win...=/ the patient was furious bt wad cn we do? we r just students and our grades depend on her...next, she had to insert the rectal supportsitory for the patient...and heres the joke! first try: she put into the first hole (girl should know ah!) the patient was complaining that she was placing the bullet in the wrong hole also eh! see! even patient also know! then when it was in then my ci realised...-.- and i was there like "auntie relax! my ci know what she is doing...just relax!" haha...XD the second one LOOKS successful though...however after another two AN took over, and i was the only one left inside (last one to leave la) they show me something that make me burst out in laughter...xD the bullet was out la...! best of all is what, the AN say is i put de lo...! BEST AH! lol...i say it was my CI they laughed even louder!! haha...XD as a matter of fact, i joined in too...=X
i guess this was the oni fun part of my attachment...so who says ur CIs are competent nurses? i think they need to get their P&Cs signed too...=P haha...another incident was a paitent having SOB(shortness of breath)...=S he was shivering and breathless, and the doctor was panicking...well O2 saturation was going down, and we fear the patient would collaspe...=/ first time encounter with this kind of scenerio, i was kinda stunned...=O (everyone have a time like this okay!) =/ bt i followed the doctor's instructions ans ran to get the stuff...poushing O2 tank (big one )and getting the necassary items bt wad i get in the end? the doc say the student nurses were slow!!!when she didn't even take the stuffs! i was like...i didn't know where they were placed rite! and u know where they were, y don u get them n i help u monitor the patient...-.- everything the student take and push...and u scold us for being slow...=/ and guess wad! all 6 std nurses r inside...BOMB BOMB! best thing is when the doc asked shafiq take ventri mack...he go take parameters for the row of patients...BEST MAN HIM...!don even know what is emergency...!!!i feel like going there punch him alrdy la! F up guy..! =@
i think these 2 incidents are the most i cn remb in the attchment...=)
of cos we visited a shelter at the last day of attachment...mainly aids patients...i m amazed by their friendliness...it was like...they were supposed to be restless and emotionless..we were educated by them in 2 activities...making sugi cookies and making flowers...imagine...boys making flowers...-.- i failed miserably in making the flowers...i make them like swiss rolls...haha...XD at the end of the session we were asked to make a poster....and we created a poem for them...:
roses r red
violets are blow
we have a bunch of flowers
just to give to you...
*after which we sined our name*
tell you what...the paper A 3 size...the poem took up 1/4 of the page and our names took up 3/4 of the pagee...LOL...hahaXD and looks like ours is the most budget one lor...=D
ate the sussage curry prepared for us....the malays can't eat...so the chinese had to eat them up...awww man...so full la...!!!then still had to take seconds...-.- no choice one...we had the cookies for dessert...another theng that u eat till wanna stop one...=/ well...we lefty 3 for our muslim friends...just in time : 7 pm...HAHA! seriously...!we laughed alot in the shelter..all the boys turned crazy...=)
